Fairy Meadows Cabin, Day 8

The Party is over...

chores
If you have to do chores, a background like this helps. (Photo Matthias)

Group Photo
Here it is, the token group photo taken before our departure from the meadows. Why is everybody squinting?

Fairy Meadow Guides
Here are our two stellar guides, Jesse and Bruno. They both have accents (canadian + french) so If you can't understand what they're saying, just try to keep up.

Fairy Meadow Stairs
Bob showing how easy it is to go down the stairs verses going back up.

Fairy Meadows luge
Of course the luge run is even easier than the stairs.

Day 9, Sunday
Home at last.

Home from canada
Returning to life as usual didn't go as productively as I had hoped. I found myself restless yet exhausted, excited yet disappointed. I found myself staring at the vibrant green grass of my neighborhood and marveling at how out of place it would look on a glacier. I felt pretty much just like Helmütt in this picture, but without the fur and wrinkles....

Things I wish I had pictures of, but don't:

  • Dave and Dan casually avoiding snowballs on the front porch while drinking.
  • Andi serving up the steaming hot enchiladas at the end of the last ski day.
  • John chopping wood.
  • The water hole + someone carrying the oxen inspired water yoke.
  • Helmüt offering his "nut sack" to the group.
  • Jeff's get well card to Julie.
  • Bruno's ancient, worn out skins with most of the hairs rubbed off.
  • The pee hole at it's holiest. (just kidding!)
  • The pig game revelry/revelers.
  • The plate of poutine we had at the Golden Jugs Pub in Golden.
  • The killer road side steak house near the border that Chris, Chris, Matthias, + I ate at on the way home.
  • Me back up on Granite Glacier, right now.
