Pre-Season Ski Touring at Deer Valley

Thursday and Friday, November 23th and 24th, 2006

Despite Low snow levels, lack of new snow, and extreme apathy among potential ski partners, I managed to ski tour a few days over Thanksgiving holiday, and to even find some nice soft-ish snow.

These aren't the turns that I was talking about when I said "soft-ish" snow.

If you look really closely in the bowl in the foreground, you can barely see our turns etched into the windpack.

The views to the east and to the Uintas are spectacular. Snowmobiles and icy track-packed slopes were less than spectacular.

I would have taken some pictures of our many tracks in deep-ish powder, but it was too dark and shady. You'll just have to believe me. You believe me, right???
